Special Events & Social Media Intern

The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico (CFSNM) is seeking a vibrant collegiate student to be a part of our team. This position will be a part time internship opportunity for someone with interests in marketing, community outreach, communications, social media, and special event support. This internship will allow a student to gain knowledge in writing press releases; developing donor profile stories; creating social media graphics, social media content (written, photo, and video) across social media platforms; assisting in the organization and planning of special events; and developing interpersonal communication skills with donors, volunteers, Board of Directors, local news media and multiple nonprofit organizations. The internship will also provide the opportunity to network and attend community, county, and statewide events representing CFSNM.

An ideal candidate must:

  • Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of the CFSNM
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Possess solid oral and written communication skills
  • Be skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
    • Be skilled in working within Google Drive, shared calendars and shared documents
    • Be able to learn new programs i.e. MailChimp, Canva, and WordPress
  • Be able to operate standard office equipment 
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks
  • Possess an interest in a nonprofit career ‐ particularly development, fundraising, communications, marketing

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Commitment to a minimum of 12 hours per week. 
  • Supporting staff with logistics associated with special events, including assisting with creation of invitation list, recognizing sponsors, documenting via social media, and engaging with attendees.
  • Develop and draft internal and external documents and materials to build or retain relationships with donors, volunteers, community members, and other supporters of the organization. Materials may include press releases, social media graphics, newsletters, etc.
  • Committee Support- Work with CFSNM's diverse committees to create content and marketing materials and graphics support planning and implementation of committee meetings, outreach events, and efforts.
  • Fundraising Activities – Support coordination of existing fundraising efforts while exploring new approaches to generate funding. 
  • Outreach – Increase awareness of the CFSNM, its grant and scholarship opportunities and nonprofit partners, to as wide of an audience as possible.
  • Support community impact work by attending coalition and partnership meetings. This can include supporting Interagency Council.
  • Create weekly content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Tiktok, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Support community events as a representative of the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico.
  • Support increasing social media likes while connecting back to the CFSNM web content.
  • Support the maintenance of the CFSNM website.
  • Partnership support via front desk communications (email, phone, greetings).
  • Participate in weekly supervision with supervisor(s) and intern team.

 

Compensation:

$1,500 stipend awarded to the intern per semester.
