Egyptian Traditional Dance for college credit

Job Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated dance students who are interested in learning traditional Egyptian and Arab dance to perform at community events and cultural celebrations. This opportunity offers free training, college credit, and the chance to gain real performance experience. Students will learn authentic cultural dances (Four Claw, Tanoura, Sai'idi), rehearse with a group, and perform for audiences at organizational events. In some cases, paid performance opportunities may be available if requested by event attendees.

This role is perfect for students who want to expand their dance skills, explore Middle Eastern cultural arts, and build confidence as performers in a supportive, community‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Attend free training sessions to learn traditional Egyptian and Arab dance styles.
  • Participate in rehearsals to prepare for group and solo performances.
  • Perform at community events, cultural programs, and organizational celebrations.
  • Represent the organization professionally and respectfully during performances.
  • Engage with attendees in a positive and welcoming manner when appropriate.
  • Maintain commitment to scheduled practices and performance dates.
  • Demonstrate openness to learning cultural history, meaning, and artistic expression behind each dance.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Interest in dance, cultural arts, or performance (no prior experience required).
  • Willingness to learn traditional Egyptian and Arab dance techniques.
  • Ability to work well in a group setting and follow choreography.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Reliability and commitment to attending training and performance events.
  • Openness to cultural learning and artistic growth.

Preferred but not required:

  • Previous dance experience in any style.
  • Interest in Middle Eastern culture, music, or performance arts.
