School Psychologist

Job Title: School Psychologist
Location: South Carolina (Elementary School Setting)
Schedule: Full-time, school-based
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $60–$65/hour (dependent on experience)

Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to support students within a public school district setting across two elementary schools (K–5). This itinerant role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success while ensuring compliance with special education processes.

The School Psychologist will play a critical role in psychoeducational evaluations, MTSS/RTI support, behavioral consultation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Psychoeducational Evaluations



  • Conduct initial and reevaluation assessments for students referred for:



    • Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD)


    • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)


    • Intellectual Disability (ID)


    • Emotional Disability (ED)




  • Write comprehensive psychological reports and interpret assessment data.


  • Present evaluation findings during IEP eligibility and team meetings.


MTSS / RTI Support


  • Participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) teams.


  • Help design, implement, and monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.


  • Use data-driven decision-making to support referrals and interventions.


Consultation & Collaboration



  • Collaborate with:



    • Special education teachers


    • General education teachers


    • Speech-language pathologists


    • School administrators


    • Families and caregivers




  • Provide behavioral consultation and intervention recommendations.


Behavioral & Social-Emotional Support


  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).


  • Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).


  • Support students with emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.


Compliance & Documentation



  • Ensure compliance with:



    • IDEA regulations


    • South Carolina Department of Education guidelines


    • Evaluation timelines and legal documentation requirements




  • Maintain organized and accurate records, reports, and timelines.


Qualifications

Fully Credentialed Candidates


  • Specialist (Ed.S.), Ph.D., or Psy.D. in School Psychology.


  • Completion of required internship (typically 1200 hours).


  • Eligible for or currently holding South Carolina certification as a School Psychologist (Level II or III).


  • NCSP certification preferred.


Out-of-State Candidates


  • Must be eligible for South Carolina reciprocity or provisional certification.


  • Willingness to apply for South Carolina licensure upon hire.


Intern Candidates


  • Enrollment in an accredited School Psychology program.


  • Completion of full-time internship year.


  • Ability to work under supervision with increasing responsibilities throughout the school year.


Work Environment


  • Itinerant role serving two elementary schools.


  • Collaborative district environment with multidisciplinary support teams.


  • Moderate-to-high caseload based on school needs.


  • Strong administrative and team support.
