About the Role
HiComp is seeking a motivated and highly skilled Research Intern to join our dynamic biology team. You will play a key role in the development and application of cutting-edge Organ-on-Chip (OoC) and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) models. This is a unique, hands-on opportunity to contribute to complex experimental studies from end to end—starting with initial literature research all the way through to data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Design: Conduct comprehensive literature searches to stay current on field progress and design experimental protocols that meet project goals.
- Experimental Execution: Carry out specialized laboratory research and execute complex studies involving 2D & 3D cell culture, in vitro assays, and molecular biology experiments.
- Data & Analysis: Perform statistical analysis, interpret experimental data, and actively troubleshoot any experimental challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain rigorous project documentation and detailed laboratory notebooks to ensure reproducibility.
- Lab Support: Assist with general laboratory maintenance to ensure a safe and productive research environment.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Currently enrolled PhD student in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
- Cell Culture Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Assay Proficiency: Proven ability to conduct cell-based and in vitro assays.
- Molecular Biology Techniques: Skilled in essential protocols, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry.
- AI Tool Proficiency: Capable of leveraging AI tools to enhance research efficiency and productivity.
- Advanced Models (Preferred): Specialized experience working with iPSCs, 3D cultures, organoids, and/or microfluidic devices is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Fast Learner: Ability to quickly grasp new protocols and background knowledge.
- Adaptability: Flexible with working hours to accommodate specific project requirements and evolving business needs.
- Dynamic: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
