Electrical Safety Officer

About the Role
McAfee Safety Analysis, Inc. (MSA) is seeking a qualified Electrical Safety Officer (ESO) to support a Department of Energy (DOE) project at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role is critical in ensuring safe execution of electrical work within a high-risk nuclear and construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert for electrical safety
- Support field and construction teams in implementing safe work practices
- Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, and compliance evaluations
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Review Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Integrated Work Documents (IWDs)
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, IEEE, and DOE standards
- Provide technical guidance to project teams and field personnel
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of electrical field experience (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E (required)
- Experience in industrial, construction, or DOE environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” clearance

Preferred Qualifications
- DOE, NNSA, or nuclear facility experience
- Licensed electrician (Journeyman, Inside Wireman, or equivalent)
- Experience supporting construction or facility operations
- Familiarity with industrial electrical systems
Work Environment
- 100% onsite at Los Alamos National Laboratory (TA-51 / TA-55)
- Field-based role within a high-consequence nuclear facility
- May require rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)
