Children's Center Teacher
Bargaining Unit: Non Represented
Rate of Pay: $27.27/hour + DOE
Summary
Instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth needed as well as maintains safety and best practices for a child care setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Keeps areas of responsibility in compliance with State of California, Dept. of Social Services, Title 22 policies and procedures.
- Supervision of children at all times.
- Maintains focus on the children.
- Maintains best practice for a child care setting.
- Develops plans and submits curriculum.
- Performs some housekeeping duties.
- Grows professionally though education and workshops annually.
- Trains co-teachers, assistant teachers, helpers and volunteers as necessary.
- Direct daily activities of assistant teachers.
- Assume responsibility of Center in absence of Director when designated.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Education and /or experience are based on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Child Development Permit Matrix of Teacher. All coursework must meet the approved standards of Title 22 (101216.1). It is the responsibility of the employee to maintain education and experience qualifications and provide proof of completion to the Tahoe Forest Children's Center Facility Director prior to first day of work.
Required Licenses/Certifications
BLS/ACLS/PALS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification).

Other Experience/Qualifications
Required
- 24 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development (ECE/ED) required, including 3 units each in core courses of child/human development in growth and development., child/family/community or child and family relations, and program/curriculum; 16 units of general education. Employees working with children under 2 years of age require a minimum of 3 units related to the area of infants per Title 22 (101415.1)
Experience requirement
- 175 days of 3 hours per day within 4 years.
Preferred
- Current valid credential from the Office of Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Permit- Teacher or Master Teacher
Alternative requirement
- AA or higher in ECE/CD or related field with 3 units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting. Employees working with children under 2 years of age require a minimum of 3 units related to the area of infants per Title 22 (101415.1)
- Alternative qualifications is Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) earned in California. Employees working with children under 2 years of age require a minimum of 3 units related to the area of infants per Title 22 (101415.1)
