WORK DAYS: 190
PAY: for the 2026-27 school year, $48,925 - $94,049, depending on prior verifiable experience and education level verified through official transcripts. Placement is dependent on verifiable experience and education level. 

RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTION:  The North Santiam School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify

Essential Requirements:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and current valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate grade level/subject area endorsement
  • Bilingual preferred but not required
  • Ability to maintain the strength of knowledge and practice in instructional skills and strategies
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, seek professional growth, improve classroom instruction, and qualify for license renewal by following both state and district regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for students
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, teachers, and the community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with student, staff, and/or parent information
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform the physically demanding requirements of the job
  • Perform physical requirements, which may include:

A.  Moderate to extensive degree of physical and emotional stamina
B.  Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting      
C.  Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations      
D.  Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception      
E.  Possible exposure to bodily fluids in assisting students with using restrooms and tending to injury and illness
F.  Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned): Plans and implements a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs and development of students

  1. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students
  2. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning with the resources provided by the District
  3. Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management skills
  4. Diagnose the needs and abilities of assigned students and prescribe appropriate learning activities for each student
  5. Evaluate each student’s growth periodically and develop instructional plans for the future
  6. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students
  7. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and attendance
  8. Encourage students to set and maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior
  9. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations.
  10. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law and District policy
  11. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues
  12. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning District curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives
  13. Take reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities
  14. Satisfactorily perform teaching responsibilities and continually evaluate and reappraise professional performance using District guidelines.  Assumes the responsibility for seeking help and advice and takes full responsibility for demonstrating professional growth and needed improvement
  15. Serve as a role model to students in the areas of appearance, actions, behaviors, and interpersonal interactions with peers
  16. Provide academic modifications for special needs students
  17. Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed
  18. Direct and assign activities of assigned instructional assistants, volunteers, and other paraprofessionals
  19. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, parents, and staff
  20. Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration
