Junior Photographer/Videographer — Freelance Event Coverage
We’re looking for a photographer/videographer to support content capture for a small NYC-based client hosting events or doing short interviews about once per month.
This is a great fit for someone early in their photo/video career, a social content creator, or a freelance creative looking for occasional evening work and extra income.
About the Role
You’ll capture photo and video content primarily for social media. For events, most run under three hours and typically take place in the evening, though occasional daytime opportunities may come up.
We’re looking for someone who can confidently capture clean, usable, social-first content with a good eye for moments, atmosphere, and storytelling. Content is typically captured on a mix of cell phone and professional DSLR cameras.
Responsibilities
Capture photo and video content during, including:
- Event b-roll and atmosphere shots
- Short-form vertical video clips for social
- Candid guest moments
- Speaker, host, or activity coverage
- Occasional short interviews, using pre-written questions provided in advance
You may also be asked to:
- Set up a tripod and/or mic for interviews
- Capture usable audio when needed
- Follow a simple shot list or creative direction
- Deliver raw photo/video files after the event in an organized format
Ideal Candidate
You might be a great fit if you:
- Have a good eye for social-first photo and video content
- Are comfortable capturing events in a casual, fast-moving environment
- Can work independently with light direction
- Are reliable, punctual, and professional
- Are comfortable interacting with guests or interviewees when needed
- Have access to an iPhone, camera, tripod, mic, or other basic content capture tools
- Are based in or able to travel to NYC, especially SoHo
Schedule
This is an occasional freelance role, approximately once per month. Events are usually under three hours and most often take place in the evenings.
Location
Most events take place in SoHo, NYC, with occasional events in other nearby locations.
