GA Position for Graduate Center Office of Fellowships
Overview:
This position focuses on fellowships and graduate writing in support of the following Office of Fellowship goals:
- Enhance Proposal Excellence: Assist graduate students in mastering the art of writing high-impact proposals and navigating the technical requirements of grant mechanisms
- Build Financial Sustainability: Serve as a central node for identifying funding opportunities, RFPs, and diverse financial support mechanisms
- Integrated Skill Building: Foster "entrepreneurial mindset" skill building in graduate students and enhance understanding of the institutional process over the grant lifecycle.
- Fostering Mentorship: Develop the professional development and mentoring skills of consultants.
Purpose:
The graduate assistant will work with the Graduate Center Office of Fellowships to support graduate students across the Grant Lifecycle Model, ensuring support is available from the initial "spark" of an idea through to the final post-award compliance. The GA will work with staff to write the GradFunding Newsletter, publicize and manage Office of Fellowships programming, and support graduate writers. Duties include researching current fellowship opportunities, writing or editing articles about graduate funding, publicizing Office of Fellowships programming, administering application development programs, help collecting program data, and assisting with program evaluation. Additionally, the graduate assistant will serve as a Graduate College Ambassador promoting all student support programming at the Graduate Center.
Examples of Duties
- Help manage and respond to student inquiries to the Office of Fellowships
- Develop a systematic search for funding opportunities and submit results for inclusion in the GradFunding Newsletter
- Create and maintain digital assets that publicize/market activities of the Office of Fellowships to campus stakeholders
- Provide logistical support for workshops coordinated by the Office of Fellowships
- Organize and moderate student panels
- Serve as a Graduate College Ambassador in campus outreach efforts
- Create a community of practice/student ambassador program
- Support writing consultants in fellowship reviews and facilitation of Writing Efficiency Sessions
- Support metrics and outcome tracking
- Write or edit articles for the Graduate Center website
- Research and write discussion questions for writing tips
- Assist in updating D2L/Brightspace and websites as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
- Current University of Arizona graduate student
- Ability to utilize Office programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher
- Experience with fellowship/grant writing
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- FERPA Training (can be completed once hired)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other software/website programs, such as Qualtrics, Google Docs, Trellis, Box, D2L, Zoom, and AI writing tools
- Experience with creating digital assets to market and promote programming
- Completion of the College Reading and Learning Association certification
Compensation:
- 0.5 FTE, 20 hours/week
- $25,654 ($51,308 annualized)
- August 17, 2026 – May 23, 2027, with potential for additional summer funding
