Job Title:                                       Machinist

Reports to:                                   Director, Engineered Products

Primary Work Location:               Monroeville, PA 

Employee Classification:             Full time non-exempt

Core Work Hours:                        6:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday

Travel:                                           Required but infrequent, generally less than 5%

Position Summary

We are looking for an entry level Machinist to join our production team. The Machinist is a part of EME’s Engineered Products team and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in EME’s shop including: 

  • Operating and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Inspecting and assembling parts
  • Troubleshooting and repairing problems
  • Working with engineering staff to develop and implement solutions

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Machine components using manual and CNC equipment of various material types.
  2. Operate large and mid-sized manual lathes, horizontal boring mills, manual milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and both horizontal and vertical band saws.
  3. Measure and inspect parts for accuracy utilizing precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
  4. Assemble parts to drawings and/or specifications.
  5. Material handling such as fork truck operations and basic rigging to load and unload parts.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized shop facility and tooling.
  7. Package and/or crate parts for shipment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Graduate of a recognized technical school with a degree in machining or a related field.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow engineering drawings and other written work instructions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to use a computer for communication with others.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends if necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The hourly rate for this position is between $20 to $25 per hour.
