Fiscal Assistant II – Child Support

Hourly Rate: $17.87 to $26.81

Job Summary: Fiscal Assistant II is responsible for processing court orders received on family and paternity cases. Calculates and processes any adjustments (debits/credits) to accounts. Moving any money through the system as necessary. Their major objective is to analyze, interpret and process complex court orders and enter the data into child support's KIDS system. Also, provide office support as necessary, including reception. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, interpret and process complex court orders received on family and paternity cases, including cases from other jurisdictions. Process or terminate income withholding orders. Calculate and process adjustments to accounts on recycled monies for debt obligations.
  • Work with various suspense reports to ensure that suspended payments will move through the KIDS system. Manually move the payments or correct errors to prevent the automatic movement of payments.
  • Process monthly reports, redirecting support payments to other governmental agencies. Comply with regulations and laws governing cases from other states and countries, review and approve financial adjustment entries made by staff, and follows GAAP, (generally accepted accounting principles).
  • Processes documents that have been scanned into OnBase. These documents include high school graduation notices, notarized statements, alternative payment plans, lien docket orders, death certificates, bail orders and settlement orders.
  • Performs financial review of cases for lien dockets, account seizures and license suspensions. The financial reviews are used in court during hearings or to check for errors made in the KIDS system. The amount of time doing financial review varies depending on case.
  • Have contact with employees, suppliers or general public to give standard information on the department procedures or processes. Receive, verify and sort cash, cash items and/or variety of negotiable instruments, prepare and issue receipts.
  • Issues written communications with attorneys, paralegals, department supervisors, employers and Wisconsin Trust Fund staff regarding local cases and laws governing cases involving other states and jurisdictions.
  • Performs any and other related duties that may be assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current state of Wisconsin resident.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and three (3) years of professional experience working in bookkeeping, accounting or a current MC employee working in Child Support for at least 6 months will also qualify. 
  • Associate degree from an approved college/university in accounting or business administration and one (1) year of experience working in accounting or bookkeeping.  
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from an approved college or university in accounting or business administration may substitute for the required 3 years of working experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, methods and practices; knowledge of office business practices and office equipment used in bookkeeping work; knowledge of banking methods, practices and procedures; skilled in the operation of a calculator and personal computer; proficiency in Excel, cash handling and mathematical skills. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with external and internal contacts.
