About Us (aka why this place is a little different)
At What The Floof, we don’t just groom dogs, we create experiences!!
We’re a team of dog-obsessed, detail-loving, people-loving humans who care deeply about doing things the right way. Our #1 priority is always the comfort and safety of the pups; the beautiful groom is just a bonus.
We care just as much about the humans on the other end of the leash. From the moment someone walks through our doors, our goal is to create an experience that feels thoughtful, calm, and genuinely exceptional. The kind of experience that makes people say “wow, that was easy” and actually look forward to coming back.
We move with purpose, hold a high standard, and take pride in every detail, from the first hello to the final tail wag. Around here, both pups and their people are treated like VIPs, and every visit should feel smooth, cared for, and just a little bit magical!!
The Role
This is not a role where you can come in, do the bare minimum, and coast. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves to learn, grow, and improve, and who takes pride in getting better at what they do every single day.
You are the heartbeat of the shop. You’re the one keeping everything flowing, everyone informed, and every client feeling genuinely taken care of. When you’re doing this role well, the entire day runs better because of you.
Some moments are calm and easy.
Some moments are fast, unpredictable, and a little chaotic.
The magic is being able to handle both with confidence, warmth, and a clear head!!
This isn’t just a front desk job; it’s an opportunity to build real, transferable skills and become someone the team truly relies on. You’ll develop:
- Real-time problem solving
- High-level customer experience and communication skills
- The ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Clear, effective team communication
- Confidence in making decisions on the fly
What You’ll Be Doing
- Welcoming clients and their pups (arguably the best part)
- Owning the schedule from start to finish, becoming fully fluent in our systems and SOPs, and making sure every day is thoughtfully booked, balanced, and making sure no opportunity to serve a pup or client is missed
- Communicating with clients in person, over the phone, and via text with warmth, clarity, and confidence
- Learning, retaining, and consistently implementing our SOPs so things are done the right way every time
- Supporting the grooming team throughout the day
- Helping clients choose what’s best for their pup and guiding them through the experience with ease
- Keeping everything feeling calm, clean, and under control
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a full-time team member who brings high energy, strong ownership, and a genuine desire to grow. This role is best suited for someone early in their career who’s hungry to learn, improve, and be part of something they can take pride in.
You might be a great fit if you:
- Show up with positive, grounded energy and can keep up in a fast-paced environment
- Genuinely care about what you do and take ownership of the things you’re responsible for
- Are committed, reliable, and take your role seriously
- Learn quickly, retain what you’re taught, and actually implement it
- Are naturally curious and always looking for ways to learn, grow, and get better
- Love dogs (of course)… but truly love people (building relationships, helping others, and creating exceptional experiences)
- Take pride in doing things the right way, not the easy way
- Stay calm under pressure and are someone the team can consistently rely on
Bonus points if you’ve worked in:
- Retail
- Hospitality
- Salons/Spas
- Or any environment where people expect a high level of service
A Quick Reality Check (we like honesty)
There’s a learning curve here.
Some days feel smooth. Some days feel a little chaotic.
You’ll be learning a lot, communicating a lot, and thinking on your feet.
We’ll teach you everything, but the people who do really well here are the ones who:
- Stay steady
- Keep a good attitude
- And figure things out as they go
Why People Love It Here
- You get to spend your days with dogs… a lot of dogs
- You’re part of a team that actually shows up for each other
- You get to create genuinely great experiences for people and make someone’s day a little easier, every single day
- You’re constantly learning, growing, and getting better
- No two days feel the same, and it definitely never gets boring
- And yes… you will leave covered in fur (it’s part of the uniform)
Details
- Shifts between 7:30am–6:00pm
- Full-time
- $17–$21/hour depending on experience
Final Note
If you’re someone who:
- Works hard
- Shows up with a positive attitude and strong energy
- Genuinely cares about doing a great job
- Takes ownership of what you’re responsible for
- Loves dogs and people (equally, or maybe even people a little more)
- And wants to be part of something a little special
…we’d love to hear from you!!
Just make sure you follow the instructions carefully, we notice!
