Are you a teacher who is looking to teach the child rather than teaching to a test? We are The Whole Child Academy - a non-traditional, private day school for twice exceptional learners, and as our name implies, we teach the whole child. Most of our classes are taught in a 1:1 setting which maximizes student engagement and outcomes. We are project• based and have exceptional support systems that encourage cross-curricular learning.
Responsibilities
• Trained or certified in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, and/ or similar program
• Plan, teach and evaluate instruction for students struggling in reading and writing
• Ability to use diagnostic tools to determine type of instruction students need
• Provide professional development for classroom teachers as well as push• in services in classrooms
• Reliable and dependable
• Committed to teaching students at their levels in their learning style
• Highly motivating and hands-on
• Experience working with students w/ ADHD, executive functioning and sensory processing issues, social/ emotional challenges (anxiety, depression, school reluctance) and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Qualifications
• Must be certified or trained in Orton• Gillingham, Wilson, or similar program
• Must be empathetic and compassionate, understanding of student's challenges and frustrations, and provide support and encouragement

- Monday to Friday (7:45am to 3:30pm)
