Early Childhood Teacher

NWON is hiring individuals who are passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teachers with a CDA to nurture and educate children from infancy through five years old. Work locations in University City and Northeast Philadelphia. Duties

  • Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that incorporate literacy education, math, physical education, and Montessori methods to support early childhood development.
  • Create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages positive behavior management and social-emotional growth.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor each child's progress, including standardized testing and informal evaluations, adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and specialists in early intervention and special education to support individual learning needs.
  • Manage classroom routines efficiently, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and organization in line with childcare standards.
  • Incorporate child welfare practices into daily activities to promote health, safety, and overall well-being of infants to preschool-aged children.
  • Engage children in activities that develop literacy skills, motor coordination, social skills, and cognitive abilities through play-based learning and structured lessons.

Qualifications

  • Proven classroom experience working with children aged infant to 5 years in daycare or preschool settings.
  • Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and early intervention strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum development across various domains such as literacy education, math, physical education, and special education needs.
  • Familiarity with Montessori methods or other early childhood educational philosophies is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, colleagues, and external specialists.
  • Certification or credentials in early childhood education or related fields are highly desirable.
