Established Private Preparatory school in Arcadia, California, seeks charismatic 10th-grade Writing Teacher for a part-time position. Classes are small with fewer than 15 students. All material and curriculum will be provided.  Additional teaching hours are open for those qualified to teach other topics.  Teaching positions are as follows: 


English

Arcadia: 10th Grade Writing Teacher on Wednesday, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm and/or 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

 

Candidate should:

  • Completed a Bachelor's degree
  • Be versed in classroom management
  • The ideal applicant is credentialed or preliminarily credentialed
  • Have 6 months of teaching experience
  • Have experience working with high school or middle school-aged students
  • Commit to a set teaching schedule for 10 weeks from June 1, 2026, to August 14, 2026

 

Teaching Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of grammar, composition, essay structure, and literary analysis
  • Ability to simplify and clearly explain foundational writing concepts, including:
    • Thesis statements
    • Topic sentences
    • Essay organization and outlines
    • Drafting and revision strategies
    • Editing and proofreading techniques
  • Ability to break down complex writing assignments into manageable, student-friendly steps
  • Experience guiding students through the full writing process from brainstorming to final draft
  • Skilled at helping students develop critical thinking and analytical writing skills
  • Ability to provide constructive, encouraging, and actionable feedback
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create engaging, structured, and student-centered lessons
  • Passion for helping students build confidence and improve writing proficiency
  • Reliable, professional, patient, and collaborative

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3-15 per week
