Partnerships & Sponsorships Intern

  • Start: ASAP (June 1)
  • Duration: 3 months (negotiable), with potential extension into Fall 2026
  • Hours: Part time or full time hours available
  • In-Person at the Boyd Innovation Center (711 Saluda Ave, Columbia, SC 29205)

About us The Boyd Innovation Center is Columbia's tech startup hub. We’re a 501c3 nonprofit that exists to help founders build scalable tech companies in Columbia SC. We run a coworking space in Five Points, run incubator and accelerator programs for tech startups, and host community events to bring together founders, builders, experts, and investors. We work with universities, corporations, and tech partners to create value for our members and the broader ecosystem. This role helps us build and grow those relationships.

The role You'll identify, pitch, and manage partnerships and sponsorships that benefit BIC, our members, and the Columbia startup community — from event sponsors to startup perks to university and corporate relationships.

What you'll work on

Sponsorships

  • Research and outreach to local and regional companies for event and organizational sponsorships
  • Draft sponsorship decks and proposals
  • Track sponsor commitments and manage fulfillment and recognition

Startup & Member Benefits

  • Identify and apply for startup-focused perks and credits (Google Cloud, AWS, Lovable, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Find and secure nonprofit discounts and benefits for BIC operations (Google Ad Grants, tool credits, in-kind support)
  • Maintain and update a member-facing benefits directory

University & Campus Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with USC, Columbia College, and other local campus clubs and organizations
  • Represent BIC at campus events
  • Identify student engagement and co-programming opportunities
  • Bridge introductions to faculty and administrators where relevant

Relationship Management

  • Keep HubSpot records updated for all partner and sponsor contacts
  • Track outreach, conversations, and commitments
  • Support partner renewals and ongoing relationship maintenance

What success looks like

  • At least 3–5 new event or organizational sponsors secured or in active pipeline
  • Startup benefit/perk offerings meaningfully expanded
  • Active relationships established or grown with at least 3 campus organizations
  • All partner contacts tracked and managed in HubSpot
