Public Safety Dispatcher

At the Jenks Police Department, our Public Safety Dispatchers are the first voice people hear in a crisis. You are the calm in chaos. The connection between the community and the officers, firefighters, and medics responding to help.

This is not just answering phones. This is real-time decision-making that impacts lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate 911 and non-emergency systems 
  • Coordinate police, fire, and EMS response 
  • Manage high-pressure situations with clarity and control 
  • Perform jailer-related responsibilities as part of your role 

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts (6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM) 
  • Rotating schedule, with every other week offering three consecutive days off 
  • Shift assignments are based on department needs 

Pay

  • $17.50/hour (uncertified) 
  • $18.00/hour (certified) 

Additional Responsibilities May Include

  • Monitoring inmates (in person or via video) 
  • Assisting with booking procedures 
  • Providing meals and support within the jail environment 

Also, we have a certified therapy dog who occasionally visits dispatch. She takes morale seriously.
