Public Safety Dispatcher

At the Jenks Police Department, our Public Safety Dispatchers are the first voice people hear in a crisis. You are the calm in chaos. The connection between the community and the officers, firefighters, and medics responding to help.
This is not just answering phones. This is real-time decision-making that impacts lives.
What You’ll Do
- Operate 911 and non-emergency systems
- Coordinate police, fire, and EMS response
- Manage high-pressure situations with clarity and control
- Perform jailer-related responsibilities as part of your role
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (6 AM to 6 PM or 6 PM to 6 AM)
- Rotating schedule, with every other week offering three consecutive days off
- Shift assignments are based on department needs
Pay
- $17.50/hour (uncertified)
- $18.00/hour (certified)
Additional Responsibilities May Include
- Monitoring inmates (in person or via video)
- Assisting with booking procedures
- Providing meals and support within the jail environment
Also, we have a certified therapy dog who occasionally visits dispatch. She takes morale seriously.
