Market Operations Intern

Market Operations and Strategy Intern (Summer 2026)

New York, NY | Hybrid / Remote

FactMachine is building the first opinion market — a platform where people trade on what others believe.

As a Market Operations and Strategy Intern in our Summer 2026 internship program, you’ll work alongside fellow interns, team leads, and company leadership to help build, test, and grow a product at the intersection of finance, media, culture, and the internet.

This is a hands-on internship for students who want to work on a fast-moving startup, contribute to real projects, and help shape how a new category of social product reaches its first major audience.

ABOUT FACTMACHINE

FactMachine turns opinions into markets.

We let users vote on what they believe, predict how others will vote, and trade on those outcomes.

Instead of betting on what will happen, users trade on what people think should happen.

Markets span culture, politics, finance, sports, science, technology, entertainment, and online discourse. If people argue about it online, it belongs on FactMachine.

We’re a New York City-based team with experience across prediction markets, crypto, consumer technology, media, social platforms, and live content, with backgrounds from companies including Polymarket, Coinbase, TikTok, Twitch, Hinge, and more.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRM

FactMachine’s Summer 2026 internship program is designed for students who want meaningful startup experience, direct ownership, and exposure to how a consumer product grows from alpha to public launch.

Interns will support live product development, marketing experiments, content systems, community growth, research, partnerships, and go-to-market strategy. You will not be observing from the sidelines. You’ll be helping build the test environment, user experience, and growth engine that moves FactMachine from invite-only alpha toward a broader public release.

FactMachine is currently in alpha and offers users the opportunity to earn rewards for participating. Each week, users receive a $5,000 paper balance to trade from Monday through Sunday. For every $1,000 in paper money earned, users receive $10 in USDC, with balances resetting at the end of each month. Interns will help us improve, test, market, and scale this environment as we prepare for wider availability.

As part of the application process, candidates are required to create a FactMachine account and participate on the platform so they can better understand the product, user experience, and market mechanics.

We have listed a broad range of opportunities for interns to experience as we are looking to attract candidates across broad skillsets. The program may, however, only bring on candidates for a few roles or multiple candidates for the same role.

Please provide a note stating your intention to apply for different roles if you choose to do so.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Market Operations and Strategy Intern, you’ll help FactMachine improve how markets are created, organized, launched, monitored, and evaluated as we move from invite-only alpha toward broader public release.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, market design, operations, user behavior, and competitive analysis. You’ll help identify what makes certain markets more engaging than others, how users respond to different categories, and how FactMachine can build repeatable systems for launching high-quality markets across culture, sports, finance, politics, technology, and entertainment.

You may work on:

  • Researching market ideas across sports, business, finance, media, technology, culture, politics, and online discourse
  • Helping evaluate which market categories drive user participation, repeat engagement, and sharing
  • Supporting the creation of market briefs, category trackers, launch calendars, and internal strategy documents
  • Analyzing how users interact with different market formats, question types, and reward structures
  • Researching comparable products across consumer finance, social platforms, gaming, fantasy sports, creator platforms, and fintech
  • Helping improve internal processes for sourcing, prioritizing, launching, and reviewing markets
  • Preparing recommendations for how FactMachine can make markets more timely, understandable, and engaging

Strong candidates are analytical, business-minded, and interested in how markets, incentives, and consumer behavior interact. You should be comfortable researching fast-moving topics, organizing information clearly, and thinking strategically about what makes users participate.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for students who are thoughtful, ambitious, and excited to work in a startup environment.

You should be:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States, pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Graduating between Spring 2027 and Fall 2028
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Able to commit to 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
  • Available to work either in-person at the FactMachine office in Manhattan or remotely with one week onsite in New York City
  • Excited to create a FactMachine account and actively use the product as part of the application and internship experience
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can evolve quickly
  • Interested in internet culture, social platforms, prediction markets, media, finance, politics, sports, entertainment, or emerging consumer products

In-person participation is preferred, but we are open to remote candidates who can participate fully and spend at least one week onsite in New York City.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong candidates may have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Campus organizations, student media, political groups, investment clubs, debate teams, creator projects, or startup clubs
  • Social media, content creation, marketing, design, writing, research, community building, or event planning
  • Consumer apps, crypto, fintech, prediction markets, media, gaming, sports betting, fantasy sports, or creator platforms
  • Data analysis, trend research, audience development, user interviews, or competitive analysis
  • Building projects from scratch, organizing communities, launching campaigns, or taking initiative without waiting for instructions

You do not need to have prior startup experience. We care more about judgment, curiosity, taste, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

Interns will get exposure to:

  • Building and scaling a consumer product during its earliest growth stage
  • Startup decision-making across product, marketing, content, research, and operations
  • Market creation, user behavior, audience development, and community growth
  • Working directly with founders, operators, team leads, and other interns
  • Turning internet discourse into structured product, media, and growth opportunities
  • Presenting ideas, defending recommendations, and seeing projects move from concept to execution

By the end of the summer, interns should leave with a clearer understanding of how early-stage companies operate, how consumer products grow, and how new categories are built.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENT

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

  1. Create a FactMachine account
  2. Use the platform and participate in markets
  3. Be prepared to discuss their experience with the product during the interview process

We want interns who understand FactMachine not only as applicants, but as users. Since alpha is invite only, please provide a valid phone number so we can approve you for access. Applicants who fail to register or provide a phone number will not be considered.
