Are you a recent or upcoming graduate in civil engineering? This is a civilian position with the federal governmnet, no military service requirement. The Department of Army Fellows Program is a two-year training and development program where you will gain exposure working in multiple engineering, construction, operations, and project management teams in the Seattle or Walla Walla District offices. Upon completion of the two-year program, you will be placed in a permanent Civil Engineering position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where you will make an impact on projects that strengthen our nation’s infrastructure, protect communities, and support national security.

Civil Engineers in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers specialize in civil, structural, hydraulics, hydrology, environmental, geotechnical, construction, geospatial, or cost engineering, and candidates are placed based on their specific background, interest, and skills.

Major duties of an entry level civil engineer include:

  • Assist in the design and development of civil engineering instrumentation, equipment, or systems using established criteria or specifications.
  • Assist in the inspection and evaluation of civil engineering projects and resources.
  • Identify civil engineering problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Review technical civil engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals.
  • Prepare technical civil engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.
