Youth Education Professional (YEP)

Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee

The Youth Education Professional (YEP) supports students during afterschool programming through academic support, relationship-building, and engaging enrichment activities. YEPs play an important role in helping students grow in reading, homework completion, confidence, and overall school success while creating a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide homework help and academic support for students in grades K–8
  • Lead small group and one-on-one learning activities focused on literacy and academic growth
  • Support implementation of evidence-based reading and enrichment programs
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and club teams
  • Maintain a structured, engaging, and student-centered environment
  • Track attendance, participation, and student progress as needed
  • Assist with club activities, transitions, and behavior support
  • Participate in staff trainings, coaching, and professional development opportunities

  • Ability to manage groups of students in a supportive and structured way
  • Flexible, energetic, and willing to jump into daily club activities
  • Basic academic support skills in reading and math
  • Experience with youth programs, tutoring, education, or childcare preferred

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • College coursework in education, child development, or related fields preferred
  • Experience working with children or youth preferred
  • Ability to pass required background checks
