Supply Chain Intelligence Intern

Supply Chain Intelligence Intern

About the role

ERPNext is the system of record for SwifTrade's entire supply chain — products, inventory, purchase orders, warehouse operations. Your primary job is to learn ERPNext deeply and run it as a service that integrates cleanly with Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace, and our BigCommerce-based B2B portal. Every channel-side stock number, sales order, and fulfillment record flows through ERPNext, and the quality of those integrations is the difference between a platform that scales and one that constantly fights itself.

This is a hands-on operator role first, an engineering role second. You'll spend the first few weeks living inside ERPNext — learning the doctypes, the workflow engine, the permission model, server scripts, custom apps, and the Frappe framework underneath it. From there, you'll own the integration surface that connects ERPNext to our three sales channels.

What you'll build (primary)

  • Deep ERPNext operational knowledge — Items, Stock Entries, Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, Stock Reconciliation, warehouses, bins, the works. Run it like a service owner: monitor it, tune it, document it.
  • Channel integration layer — wire ERPNext to Amazon SP-API, Walmart Marketplace API, and BigCommerce so that orders flow inbound and inventory flows outbound reliably and idempotently.
  • Custom doctypes — Channel Listing (link ERPNext Item to channel + external ID), CBS Purchase (auto-create Purchase Receipt + Stock Entry), and the webhooks that fire on doc events to publish to Kafka.
  • Operational runbooks — for stock reconciliation drift, oversell handling, sync failures, and the cycle-count workflow.

What you'll learn

  • ERPNext and the Frappe framework end-to-end — one of the largest open-source ERP platforms in production.
  • How a real supply chain handles inventory races, soft reservations, oversell mitigation, and reconciliation across multiple sales channels.
  • Channel APIs in production: Amazon SP-API, Walmart Marketplace, BigCommerce v3 — auth, rate limits, webhooks, idempotency.
  • Python, REST APIs, webhooks, Kafka events, and the operational discipline of running an ERP as a service.

Qualifications

Required

  • BS/MS  — CS, Information Systems, Operations Management, or Supply Chain.
  • Comfortable in Python and SQL.
  • Willing to learn ERPNext deeply — this is the core of the role.
  • Interest in operations, logistics, or how real businesses actually run.

Nice to have

  • Any prior exposure to ERP systems (ERPNext, NetSuite, SAP, Odoo) — even a class project or demo counts.
  • Familiarity with Postgres, MariaDB, or the Frappe Framework.
  • Experience with Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Seller Center, or any marketplace integration project.
  • Coursework in time series, forecasting, or supply chain analytics (relevant for the additional scope).
