Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5:30 PM to 3:30 AM, with weekends as needed, and night differential pay.

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs the day-to-day operations of the hardboiled egg plant: loading eggs onto the machine, checking, packaging, palletizing eggs, and cleaning the plant. This position also involves loading and unloading products and supplies, as well as moving eggs, using a pallet jack or forklift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works as a member of the hard-boiled egg processing plant team in its daily operations.

2. Loads eggs from the tempering room onto the machine.

3. Checks eggs after they have been cooked and peeled.

4. Stands at the end of a conveyor and packages eggs into boxes, baskets, or flats.

5. Palletizes boxes of eggs and shrink-wraps them. Moves eggs to the finished cooler and may load them onto trucks.

6. Keeps a clean workspace and helps clean the plant when processing is finished.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:

No formal education experience required.

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish (desired).
• Strong interpersonal, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

• Handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize tasks and projects.
• Previous packaging/food processing experience.

Language Skills:

Read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Employee must demonstrate the ability to interact tactfully and positively with Wilcox Farms staff and management. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to speak effectively to members/customers or employees of Wilcox Farms. Fluency in Spanish is desired.

Mathematical Skills:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Must be able to work around chemicals or cleaning solvents.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The noise level is moderate to loud.
• The physical exertion is light to moderate.
• Work is performed mainly in a food processing plant that ranges from 55 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (cook room) and is typically humid and wet.
• There are frequent employee contacts and interruptions, in person and by telephone, during the day.
