Role Overview:
Accelevation LLC is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop advanced high-current solid-state switching systems for mission-critical applications. This position focuses on delivering dependable, high-performance designs, with ownership of electrical architecture, protection methods, and overall system robustness.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement high-current power electronics systems using solid-state switching technologies
Create and refine schematics for power and control circuits, including SCR/thyristor solutions
Develop protection approaches such as gate drive design, snubbers, and transient control (dv/dt, di/dt)
Analyze thermal performance and validate safe operating limits of power components
Evaluate system behavior under fault conditions, including short circuits and overloads
Review PCB layouts for current handling, insulation spacing, and electromagnetic performance
Support testing and validation of high-power systems
Work closely with cross-functional teams to bring designs into production
Assist with UL compliance and certification processes
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
7+ years of hands-on experience in industrial power electronics design
Proven experience designing schematics for high-current systems
Deep expertise in SCR/thyristor-based solid-state switching systems
Experience developing industrial power electronics equipment such as inverters, converters, or static switching systems
Familiarity with UL requirements and NEC guidelines for low-voltage power equipment
Proficiency with schematic design tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD
Experience reviewing PCB layouts in high-power applications
Working knowledge of EMC/EMI mitigation techniques in power electronics
Preferred skills:
Experience supporting products through UL certification or compliance testing
Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice
Background in redundant or high-reliability power architectures
Experience with FPGA/DSP-based control platforms for power switching applications
