Hardware Engineer
Title: Hardware Engineer – FPGA, ARM, DSP & Mixed-Signal PCB Design
Location: Sterling, VA (Onsite)
send resume: debbie.james@accelevationllc.com
Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on Hardware Engineer to design and develop mixed-signal hardware systems. This role involves end-to-end hardware development including schematic design and multilayer PCB layout (Altium Designer), along with board-level design of FPGA and ARM-based systems. The candidate will also contribute to DSP-level design and signal processing integration, combined with analog front-end design (signal conditioning, filtering, sensor interfacing), to build reliable, production-ready hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design hardware systems based on FPGA, ARM, and DSP-oriented architectures (board-level)
Develop schematics and multilayer PCB layouts using Altium Designer
Design multilayer PCBs with controlled impedance, differential pairs, and proper stack-up
Apply signal integrity best practices
Design and integrate mixed-signal circuits (analog + digital)
Develop analog front-end circuits (signal conditioning, filtering, sensor interfacing)
Perform hardware bring-up, testing, debugging, and validation
Troubleshoot issues at board and system level
Collaborate with firmware engineers for integration
Support DFM/DFT and transition to manufacturing
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
4–7 years of experience in hardware design
Strong experience in schematic and PCB design (Altium Designer)
Experience with multilayer PCB layout and mixed-signal systems
Experience with FPGA-based board design (no RTL required)
Experience with ARM-based embedded systems
Familiarity with DSP concepts and signal processing
Understanding of Signal Integrity and EMI/EMC
Hands-on experience with lab equipment
Preferred Skills:
Experience with LVDS, Ethernet, or similar interfaces
Analog signal conditioning and measurement front-end design
Experience with ADC-based systems
Familiarity with power electronics
Experience with hardware bring-up and debugging
