Photo Specialist

PHOTO SPECIALIST

Looking for a job? Look elsewhere.

Looking for a craft — at a place where your eye, your standards, and your obsessive attention to detail actually matter? Read on.

We’re Laudisi — the people behind Smokingpipes.com, Peterson of Dublin, Cornell & Diehl, and a handful of other brands you’ve probably never heard of (but our customers are obsessed with). We add hundreds of pipes to our site every week, and our customers can’t pick them up, hold them, or examine them in person. They rely entirely on what they see on screen.

Your role? You’re how they fall in love with a pipe before it ever arrives at their door.

WHAT YOU’LL ACTUALLY DO:

Photograph and edit photographs of hundreds pipes a week with the kind of precision that makes people write reviews like, “I bought this online and it looked exactly like the photos. Exactly.”

That’s the standard. Every shot. Every week.

You’ll also:

  • Work in a dedicated photography studio, shooting with Canon EOS DSLRs under controlled conditions
  • Post-process every image in Adobe Photoshop — color correction, background cleanup, detail enhancement
  • Maintain consistency across a high-volume product catalog where visual continuity is non-negotiable
  • Keep your workspace organized and your workflow tight when the queue is long
  • Work as part of a team that gives a damn about how things look

YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF:

You’re not looking for easy. You’re looking for right.

You notice when a photo is slightly off — and it bothers you enough to fix it. You don’t just want images that are “good enough.” You want them to be the best anyone’s seen for a product like this. You can move fast without cutting corners, and you understand that in a catalog of thousands, consistency is a form of quality.

You don’t need someone standing over your shoulder to do good work. You do it because anything less pisses you off.

This is a landing pad, not a parking lot. People who excel here don’t stay stuck; they grow into lead roles and other parts of the creative team as they demonstrate judgment and initiative.

YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Compensation and benefits: Competitive compensation; health, dental, and vision insurance; six paid holidays; generous PTO; 401(k) with 1:1 match up to 4% and no vesting period.
  •  Perks: casual dress (jeans and t‑shirts), tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, year‑end bonuses, fresh fruit daily, paid luncheons, and regular company events.
  • Growth: real opportunities to take on more responsibility as you master the work, improve processes, and show you can own outcomes—not just tasks.
  • Culture: a passionate group of “Laudisians” who like the products, like the customers, and like working with other people who actually care.
  • Reality check: we work around tobacco and smoke; many of us are enthusiasts. You’ll often be in smoking areas, so you’ll need to be comfortable with that.

 WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Prior professional experience is less important than having the right instincts. What we’re really looking for:

  • A real intolerance for mediocre photography — you notice what’s off, and you fix it.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Canon EOS DSLRs, and basic studio and imaging practices.
  • Comfort working on a Windows machine in a high-volume, fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a queue without losing quality.
  • Curiosity about pipes, cigars, or really any other “deep hobby” worlds where the minutiae really matter. (Prior pipe knowledge is a major plus — but we can teach that part.)
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a criminal background check.

 THE BOTTOM LINE:

This job isn’t for everyone. It’s for people who take pride in doing things right, who get frustrated when quality slips, and who want to be part of a team that actually holds the line.
