Worship Pastor (plus flex/Youth)

General Description

This full-time position is written as a combined Worship & Youth pastor position but could be divided into part-time positions for the ideal candidate. Worship is the primary focus, and the Youth ministry emphasis could be flexed to another area like Small Groups/Outreach for the ideal candidate.

In the area of worship (the larger of the two focuses currently), this pastor will lead and promote passionate, engaging, spirit-filled contemporary worship. The pastor will support the overall vision and bring leadership to the worship and prayer focus of the church in support of the pastoral team. 

In the area of youth, this pastor is responsible for ensuring all aspects of spiritual growth, development, and leadership to students from 7th to 12th grade, in coordination with the Associate pastor or Family pastor (depending on current staff configuration). This includes leadership of weekly programs as well as special events.  They are responsible for implementing and carrying out a vision to lead students in a program of evangelism, discipleship, and ministry in keeping with the overall Cornerstone Church vision and mission.

Cornerstone's Associate Pastor will provide support and oversight for this role under the vision of the Lead Pastor.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Coordinate, plan and oversee all worship and creative elements of Sunday services as well as youth services. 
  2. Develop, motivate, and equip volunteer leaders to minister in their giftings.
  3. Oversee all programming and ministry for students in 7th through 12th grade, including weekly services, small groups, summer programming, special events, etc.
  4. Support and participate in special events such as Easter & Christmas outreaches, all-church Life Group emphases and other church events.
  5. Ensure the creative use and proactive upkeep of worship/production equipment and facilities.
  6. Assist in the development of an annual budget and manage spending.
  7. Create environments, activities and programming that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
  8. Provide care for families within these departments including life events, hospital visits and follow-up.
  9. Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new students and families.
  10. Function as a member of the church’s Pastoral team, performing baptism services, weddings, funerals, etc. as requested.
  11. Perform other duties as fitting with the individual’s giftings.

 

Education Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:

  • Must have, or be open to seeking, ministerial credentials.
  • Meet the qualifications for Elders found in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
  • Maintain an unreserved commitment to the authority of the Word of God. 
  • Recognize the importance of leading as a servant leader.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience is preferred as a volunteer or staff member in a worship and/or student ministry leadership capacity.
  • The equivalent of an Associate degree is preferred in a ministry-focused program. 
  • Experience in designing and developing youth ministry programs.
  • Experience in recruiting, motivating, equipping, and scheduling volunteer leaders will help the candidate to be effective.
  • The ability to lead worship vocally and instrumentally is highly preferred.
  • Experience with multitrack audio playback for worship is also preferred.
