Purpose/Summary Statement:
The Director of Finance and Operations serves as a strategic and operational leader, stewarding the school’s financial health and overseeing key support departments to ensure a thriving, mission-driven environment. This role integrates financial management, human resources, insurance administration, transportation, and campus operations to support the school’s commitment to excellence in Christian education.
Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with school leadership
- Prepare financial reporting and forecasting
- Administer tuition billing, payment plans, and donor contributions with clarity and care
- Process vendor payments and report 1099’s
- Maintain banking relationships, prepare deposits, and oversee daily cash management
- Assist families in navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities, ensuring transparency, compassion, and alignment with school policies at award time
- Coordinate audits and ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting
- Manage all aspects of school insurance policies, including annual renewals, coverage evaluation, and vendor relations, non profit compliance records
- Manage all school purchasing
- Multi year forecasting
- Build multi year financial plan
Human Resources & Payroll
- Administer payroll, benefits, and employee records with confidentiality and precision
- Support hiring, onboarding, and transitions in collaboration with leadership
- Oversee employee insurance coverage, including enrollment, renewals, and claims coordination
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and school policies
- Foster a culture of professionalism, empathy, and mission alignment
Operations Oversight
- Supervise and support the Technology, Kitchen, Facilities, and Transportation team
- Oversee daily operations across campus departments to ensure efficiency and alignment with school values
- Manage the Bus Driver and coordinate bus maintenance, and safety inspections
- Lead vendor relations and contract negotiations
- Promote safety, stewardship, and excellence in all operational areas
Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a key liaison between families, staff, and vendors
- Communicate financial and operational matters with clarity and grace
- Participate in strategic planning and school-wide initiatives
- Uphold the school’s Christian values in all aspects of leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience in financial and operational leadership, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with insurance administration, employee benefits, and transportation oversight
- Commitment to the mission and values of Christian education
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated at a desk) for extended periods
- Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment
- Occasionally move about campus to access various departments and facilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., files, boxes)
- Work is performed in a standard office and school environment with moderate noise levels
Compensation
- Salary range: $40,000 – $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
- Benefits package includes health insurance, retirement contributions, life insurance, short term disability, paid time off, and tuition discounts (if applicable)
Required Proficiencies and/or Certifications:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Holds or is eligible to obtain an Association of Christian School International (ACSI) teaching certification within the first 2 years of employment

Direct Report:
This position reports to the King’s Academy Principal and the Head of School.
Contract:
- Full Time, Exempt, Director Position
