Modeling and Failure Analysis of Materials (PhD position):
The research will focus on understanding stress, deformation, fracture, fatigue, and failure mechanisms in advanced materials and structures through numerical modeling, analytical methods, and validation.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Background in solid mechanics, mechanics of materials, or structural analysis
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
- Ability to develop analytical models for stress, strain, deformation, fracture, fatigue, or failure behavior
- Familiarity with Abaqus, ANSYS Mechanical, COMSOL, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar tools
- Strong interest in connecting simulation, theory, and experimental validation
- AI/ML is a plus
