After School Program Staff

Job Title: After School Program Staff
Location: San Diego (San Diego Unified and Vista)
Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour
Job Type: Part-Time

Make a Difference in the Classroom
As an After School Program Staff member, you’ll mentor and supervise elementary and middle school students in after-school program across Central San Diego. You’ll create a safe, supportive environment while leading engaging activities that inspire learning, teamwork, and personal growth. Through games, enrichment, and positive behavior strategies, you’ll help students develop life skills and confidence.


What You’ll Do

  • Supervise and engage groups of up to 20 TK–8th grade students, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Lead and facilitate enrichment activities, games, and academic support across areas such as STEAM, arts, and physical education.
  • Foster social-emotional growth using positive behavior strategies that promote respect, empathy, and community.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with staff and families while maintaining organized and safe program spaces.
     

Schedule Options

  • SDU: On-call availability, 1–2 shifts per week, Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM (4–6 hours per shift) or Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Vista: 5 days per week, Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM -11:30 AM or 5 days per week, Monday - Friday, , 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM or both

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 3 months of experience working with children (school, camps, childcare, etc.)
  • Passion for working with students and supporting their growth
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible, dependable, and positive attitude
  • Classroom experience is a big plus
  • Experience independently managing or supervising at least 5 children/students at one time?

Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience working or volunteering with children (school, camp, or youth programs a plus)
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass fingerprinting/background check (we cover the cost)
  • Bilingual skills a plus
