Description

Description: We have an opening for a driven and talented temporary Scientist 1 to join our Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department within Genentech's Research and Early Development (gRED) organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting biochemical and cellular characterization of protein therapeutics for various therapeutic areas, including oncology, cancer immunology, inflammation and neuroscience. More specifically, the individual will develop, validate and execute biochemical and cell-based assays to characterize and screen biologic therapeutics in vitro, to support lead-finding and optimization efforts, as well as mechanistic characterization of candidates.

Requirements

Requirements: B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field and 0-5 years of relevant lab experience

Job responsibility: Design, development, validation and execution of biochemical and cell-based assays to characterize protein therapeutics; Work independently to design, execute, and interpret experiments, and also collaborate with project teams; Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, and organizational skills;

Required skills: Culture of mammalian cell lines and primary cells, Western blot, microplate format biochemical cellular assay

Preferred skills: Experience with microscopy and/or high content image analysis, flow cytometry, ELISA assays, 3D in vitro cell culture, automated or semi-automated instrumentation is a plus; experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Python, R) for quantitative analysis and interpretation of experimental data is also preferred.
