STEM Teaching Assistant – Summer (Part‑Time)-with option to stay on to the fall
Morrison Mentors is seeking responsible high school juniors, seniors, and first‑year college students to join our team as STEM Assistants this summer. This role is ideal for older students who enjoy helping younger children and have an interest in technology, hands‑on learning, and STEM activities. Students with volunteer experience in youth programs, camps, after‑school settings, or mentoring roles are strongly encouraged to apply.
Role Overview
STEM Assistants work alongside our instructors to support daily lessons and help create a positive learning environment. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with STEM lessons and hands‑on activities
- Preparing materials and setting up project stations
- Guiding younger students through projects
- Helping maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming classroom
- Participating in financial‑literacy and career‑readiness workshops
Schedule & Location
This is an in‑person summer position (we would also be open to having you continue working with us into the fall as we hire throughout the year) .
Students must be able to commute to our Hempstead office at 250 Fulton Ave, where a shuttle transports staff to partner sites. We offer flexible shift options:
- Morning: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
- Afternoon: 12:00 PM–4:00 PM
- Full‑day: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Work 4-5 days per week
