Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS), located in Malden, Massachusetts, was founded in 1998 and proudly serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year. Our school day is also 60 minutes longer than that of most traditional public schools, providing students with expanded opportunities to achieve a world-class education.

Job Description: Latin Teacher (Grades 7–12)
The Latin Teacher is responsible for delivering Mystic Valley’s Latin program to students in Grades 7–12. Instruction follows the Core Knowledge curriculum and teaching methodology. At the high school level, MVRCS offers the rigorous, internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program, and upper-level assignments may include IB coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Implement curriculum aligned with Core Knowledge and, when applicable, IB frameworks
  • Teach five subject-area classes daily
  • Deliver clear, well-structured lessons based on measurable learning objectives
  • Assess student progress regularly and complete required progress reports and report cards
  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Languages Department, including the Department Chair, on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data analysis
  • Uphold the school’s assertive discipline model with fidelity to maintain a structured, positive learning environment
  • Attend all staff meetings and actively participate in professional development

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Languages Department Chair, Assistant Director, Assistant Superintendent, and/or Superintendent/Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare reports and professional correspondence
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, and the broader community
  • Ability to perform duties in compliance with school policies and all applicable state and federal laws
  • Experience evaluating student performance and preparing written assessments
  • Strong collaboration, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Knowledge of subject-area content, instructional best practices, and relevant educational regulations
  • Ability to plan and deliver instruction aligned with school goals and diverse student needs

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Languages Department Chair. It is an annual appointment and is evaluated on a yearly basis.
