Position Overview:
This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a large-scale modernization effort by replacing the county’s existing intranet with a modern, efficient, and user-friendly SharePoint Online environment. The Intern will assist in the design, development, and deployment of modern SharePoint Online sites to support county departments. This role will focus on replacing the existing county intranet with a streamlined, user-friendly, and standardized SharePoint environment that aligns with organizational branding and Microsoft best practices. The sites will also include individual department SharePoint sites designed to streamline internal workflows. The SharePoint sites will be based on standard Microsoft templates, customized to meet county business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and configure SharePoint Online sites for various county departments using standard Microsoft templates.
- Apply consistent branding across all sites, including approved colors, fonts, logos, and layouts.
- Assist in the migration of content from the existing intranet to SharePoint Online.
- Organize content, document libraries, lists, and navigation to improve usability and accessibility.
- Collaborate with department stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure sites meet business needs.
- Ensure sites follow existing naming conventions, and security best practices.
- Test functionality and usability of sites across devices including computers, tablets, smartphones, and browsers.
- Provide documentation and basic training materials for end users.
- Provide operational support during rollout.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Digital Communications, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Familiarity with SharePoint Online or website development concepts.
- Basic knowledge of UI/UX design principles.
- Experience with HTML/CSS is a plus but not required.
