About the Journal (JFSP)
The Journal of Financial Service Professionals (JFSP) is one of the most established and respected journals in the financial planning profession. Founded in 1946 and currently marking its 80th anniversary, JFSP delivers double-blind peer-reviewed research spanning retirement, investments, taxation, and ethics. It serves as a trusted source of knowledge to enhance the quality of the financial planning experience.
Internship Details
- Schedule: At least 10 hours per week, Monday–Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Duration: Through the Summer 2026 academic semester.
- Location: Remote.
- Compensation: Eligible for a stipend of up to $1,500 upon successful completion.
- Academic Credit: Available for academic credit; interns are responsible for coordinating with their institution to ensure all forms are submitted.
- Employment Status: Participation is not tied to any commitment of future employment.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Content Support
- Assist editors with manuscript review and basic copyediting tasks.
- Track manuscript progress through various stages of the editorial and production process.
- Support submission efforts by researching potential authors and peer reviewers.
Administrative & Communications
- Manage daily email correspondence for JFSP.
- Provide high-quality customer service to colleagues and clients, maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Follow established guidelines for communication and apply critical thinking to assigned tasks.
- Communicate proactively and escalate issues to managers as needed.
Production & Digital Support
- Help maintain editorial calendars and content schedules.
- Support social media content creation related to published works.
- Assist with projects for the broader professional development team as directed.
Qualifications
- Education: Currently enrolled in a college, university, vocational/technical school, or community college. Pursuing a degree in English or a related field (or recent graduate).
- Skills: Excellent written/verbal communication and strong attention to detail.
- Standards: Basic understanding of grammar and publishing standards, specifically the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS).
- Technical: Ability to operate a computer and standard productivity equipment. Familiarity with HubSpot, Adobe, and InDesign is preferred.
- Knowledge: (Preferred) Understanding of the peer-review process and manuscript submission systems.
