Nature Class Teacher

Position Overview

We are a local homeschool group seeking a reliable, engaging Nature Class Teacher to lead outdoor learning experiences for early elementary-aged children. This class will focus on hands-on exploration, nature observation, and basic science concepts through play-based and experiential learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead weekly outdoor classes in local parks or natural areas
• Teach age-appropriate topics such as plants, animals, seasons, weather, and ecosystems
• Incorporate hands-on activities (nature walks, journaling, simple experiments, games)
• Encourage curiosity, observation skills, and respect for nature
• Manage group dynamics and ensure a safe, inclusive environment
• Communicate with parents regarding schedules, expectations, and class updates

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (ages ~4–8 preferred)
• Background in education, environmental science, outdoor recreation, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• Comfortable teaching outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong classroom/group management skills in an outdoor setting
