Geotechnical Engineer in Training (EIT) ______________________________________________________________
Ritter Engineering is a Geotechnical Engineering firm/Construction Materials Testing firm that takes great pride in exceeding customer’s expectations. RE is looking for an Engineer in Training that is motivated, customer focused, a team player and enjoys working in a high performing organization. This position reports directly to the Owner and will be a key member of the engineering team maintaining excellent client relations and engineering standards. This is a full-time position and RE will provide training and assistance for the right candidate.
Core Responsibilities:
•Work under the direct guidance and mentorship of owner/senior engineer to gain project management and engineering experience
•Assist with the production and design calculations of various types of geotechnical, pavement, slope stability and forensic reports
•Testing and inspection of construction materials including concrete, soils, aggregates and asphalt according to ASTM, AASHTO, and ARIZ test methods.
•Provide quality control in a laboratory setting as well as on construction job sites
•Proficient in locating and interpreting appropriate standards and codes, inspection specifications and research for new and expanded engineering services
•Work in a safe manner according to company policies, procedures, and laboratory practices
Requirements:
•Support field investigations or assessments
•Provide data collection, analysis and reporting
•Ability to learn how to accurately read and decipher plans, drawings, maps and other design/construction documents
•Ability to lift 40lbs from ground level repeatedly, 90lbs occasionally
•Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere
•ACI, ATTI, and ICC certifications preferred
•Willing and able to travel out of the greater Phoenix Metro area
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have experience in relevant construction materials testing, geotechnical drilling/field operations and experience with sampling/classifying soils. Ritter Engineering will provide training and certification courses. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
•BS Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Geology – accredited college or university
•Registered or the ability to register as EIT within 6 months of hiring. EIT Certification (i.e., passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam)
•Ability to work effectively with limited supervision. Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills.
•0-2 years of relevant experience, preferable in construction, design calculations, and/or technical writing
•Prior experience with materials sampling and testing beneficial
•ATTI Soils and ACI Concrete Field Testing Certification, preferred. Or ability to acquire ATTI and ACI certification within 6 months of hire
