Museum Education Summer Semester Internship – Paid
Classification: Part-time, some weekends required
Compensation: $1500 stipend to be paid in 3 installments of $500
Duration: 120 hours

POSITION SUMMARY
Education interns assist the Education Specialist, help facilitate activities, help maintain a safe classroom, and work closely with children and visitors of all ages. Paid Summer Semester education interns will lead guided programs for field trip groups, assist with outreach events, lead story times, assist with special events/programs, conduct gallery surveys and observations, and facilitate gallery touch tables. Paid summer interns are required to assist with the museum's two summer camps.
This is a part-time internship requiring a total of 120 hours over the duration of the spring semester.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Education Specialist in planning and executing educational activities.
Participate in planning and executing outreach events to promote the museum.
Help set up and facilitate hands-on activities for children and visitors.
Monitor activities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
Interact with children, families, and visitors, providing a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
Address questions and provide information about educational programs and activities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work the museum's two summer camps (June 22 - 25 and July 13 - 16).
Current student of an undergraduate or graduate program in history, public history, museum studies, education, anthropology, biology, or a related field preferred.
Experience with or willingness to engage with the public in a front facing role.
Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
