Peer Career Navigator (FWS)
The Peer Career Navigator position will be a part-time Federal Work Study (FWS) role in Career & Professional Development (CPD). Responsibilities include:
Staffing drop-in hours in CPD to help students with resumes, cover letters, using the Handshake platform, searching for part-time jobs, and answering quick questions
Manage the Handshake student resume and cover letter document queue
Take scheduled resume, cover letter, and part-time job search appointments for undergraduate students utilizing the Handshake appointment platform
Assist CPD with as-needed additional events such as career fairs, tabling events, student organization events, employer events, classroom presentations, etc.
Minimum qualifications include:
Our office is open from 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday, and we are looking for students who are available for shifts no shorter than 2 hours at a time.
Be a current UNCG student in good academic standing
Be available for at least 8 hours total per week
Have good customer service, communication, reliability, and time management skills
Preferred qualifications (but not required):
Have experience with updating your own resume and cover letter for previous jobs
Being able to navigate Handshake and Vmock platforms
Have experience or interest in working directly with your peers
Please note that your resume and cover letter will be viewed as work samples for this position, as it is a very important part of helping other students with their own documents. Please refrain from utilizing templates other than the ones provided in Vmock.
Approximate 8 hours per week at $12.00 per hour
