Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated IT Intern to join the Information Technology team for Summer 2026 at the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). This role offers exposure to a professional software development environment, including backend systems, data-related processes, and enterprise applications.
The intern will participate in ongoing technology initiatives and collaborate with team members on a variety of tasks and assignments. Responsibilities may vary based on team priorities and individual strengths, providing a balanced experience that combines guided participation with opportunities for hands-on contribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in ongoing technology initiatives and team activities within the Information Technology department
- Assist with backend and data-related tasks, including working with databases, queries, and basic data validation and analysis
- Support development and maintenance of internal applications and services under guidance from team members
- Participate in debugging, testing, and troubleshooting activities to help identify and resolve issues
- Collaborate with developers and technical leads to understand system functionality, requirements, and workflows
- Assist with analysis and preparation of data used in reporting and operational processes
- Attend and participate in team meetings, including sprint planning or status discussions, as applicable
- Perform other related tasks and assignments based on team priorities and individual learning goals
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Basic understanding of programming concepts (e.g., object-oriented programming, APIs)
- Familiarity with backend development concepts, preferably in a .NET environment
- Familiarity with relational databases and basic SQL concepts (experience with Microsoft SQL Server is a plus)
- Basic understanding of web and application concepts (e.g., HTTP, APIs, client-server architecture)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and tools
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Interest in software development, data, and enterprise systems
