Youth Pastor/Director

YOUTH PASTOR/DIRECTOR

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION: 

  • 15 hrs/wk, including Sundays and Midweek Youth Gathering
  • $25/hr
  • Stipend to apply for medical/dental benefits, vacation, and parental leave available (Additional details available upon request)

 

BACKGROUND: 

The Youth Pastor/Director is a foundational role at Foothill Community Church, responsible for relaunching our ministry for 6th–12th graders. This role reports directly to the Lead Pastor. This position is for someone passionate about loving, teaching, and investing in the lives and discipleship of pre-teens and teens from various cultural, socioeconomic, and faith backgrounds. They are responsible for partnering with God to create a vibrant, creative environment where youth fall in love with Jesus, become more like Him, and join His mission in the surrounding community and beyond through the power of the Holy Spirit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Ministry Relaunch & Programming

  • Design and lead a youth ministry relaunch strategy, with the assistance, resourcing, and empowerment of the Lead Pastor
  • Design and lead a weekly midweek youth group (6th–12th grade) focused on discipleship, along with community, fun, and living on mission.
  • Teach youth foundational biblical, theological, and missional concepts in their discipleship journey through preaching, group discussion facilitation, curriculum, and other creative approaches
  • Establish Sunday touchpoints for youth and youth leaders to connect, including facilitating discussions around the Sunday morning sermon 
  • Plan and execute regular events designed for fun, relationship building, service, and outreach to the community
  • Recruit, train, empower, and care for a team of adult volunteers and mentors to mentor, invest in, teach, and care for youth
  • Responsibly manage, track, and appropriately report youth budget and expenses.
  • Establish smooth, exciting transition procedures for 5th graders entering middle school ministry and for high schoolers entering young adulthood. 
  • Maintain safe environments by implementing and ensuring compliance with the FCC’s child protection and safety policies.

Pastoral Care, Development, & Community Engagement

  • Build deep relationships with youth and their families, partnering with parents and guardians, and engaging them in life-on-life discipleship rather than just running programs. 
  • Utilize digital communication channels to maintain connection with youth and families through platforms and channels most relevant for the current youth culture
  • Equip and empower youth as leaders within youth ministry and the life of the church and their communities at large
  • Engage youth through intentional outreach at local schools, community events, and neighborhoods
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor

Administrative

Attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-one mentorship meetings with the Lead Pastor.
 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Experience working in ethnically and socioeconomically diverse settings.
  • A committed Christian pursuing spiritual growth and disciplines, with a heart for gospel-centered biblical justice.
  • A natural ability to connect with teens, understand modern teen culture, and communicate as a compelling storyteller.
  • A high degree of emotional maturity and a "hunger" to be discipled, molded, and invested in by pastoral leadership.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication.
  • A creative and bold "self-starter" who is excited by the challenge of building a ministry from the ground up.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and discretion regarding all sensitive matters.
  • Active engagement and participation in the life of FCC.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or some seminary education is a plus, but not required for a candidate with high potential and relevant experience.
  • Prior to employment, must satisfactorily complete a criminal record background check.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
