Platform Biology Intern
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Platform Biology Intern to support molecular and cell biology research within a biopharmaceutical setting. This role offers hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory techniques and experimental workflows, including PCR, flow cytometry, and immunoassays. You will work closely with scientists and cross-functional teams to support ongoing research projects aimed at advancing biopharmaceutical product development.
What You’ll Do
- Perform laboratory experiments including:
- Plate-based assays (e.g., ELISA)
- Tissue dissociation and sample preparation
- Flow cytometry assays
- qPCR and ddPCR
- RNA extraction
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
- Work with human and animal blood and tissue samples
- Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks, including protocols, data, and analysis
- Assist with data interpretation and presentation of results
- Communicate research approaches and findings to team members and cross-functional groups
- Prepare reagents and solutions for routine laboratory use
- Restock lab consumables and maintain an organized, compliant lab environment
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Molecular Biology
- Cell Biology
- Genetics
- Or a related life sciences field
Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with common biology techniques (PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Familiarity with scientific data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism)
- Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, and analysis
- Comfortable using file management systems and cloud tools (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Understanding of basic cybersecurity best practices
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both laboratory and office environments
- Regular handling of biological samples and laboratory equipment
- May lift and carry up to 15 lbs
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, and occasional bending or reaching
- Requires close vision and attention to detail
