Compensation

• Structured as a daily rate of $90/day + sales-based incentives (top performers can increase earnings), which typically increases total daily earnings

About the Role

Mountain River Outfitters is seeking a river photographer to capture the energy, people, and experience of rafting trips along the Salmon River in Riggins, Idaho.

This role focuses on photographing guests at key rapids along our day-trip section. You’ll work independently along the river—positioning yourself at select locations, capturing high-quality images, and helping create a memorable guest experience when they return from the river.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to build a strong outdoor/action portfolio, work in a dynamic environment, and spend the summer immersed in river culture.

Hours vary based on daily trip schedule. Expect consistent work during peak season (mid-June through mid-August), with some lighter days depending on bookings. Opportunity for additional hours through content projects, media organization, or occasional on-river work depending on skillset.

What You’ll Do

• Photograph rafting trips from designated river access points and rapids
• Use daily trip schedules to plan shoot locations and timing
• Capture high-quality action and candid images
• Upload and organize photos using our integrated system (training provided)
• Ensure photos are ready for guest viewing and purchase upon return
• Occasionally assist with additional content capture as needed
• Represent MRO professionally and positively with guests and crew

What We’re Looking For

• Strong photography skills (action/outdoor experience preferred)
• Ability to work independently and manage your day efficiently
• Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing conditions
• Physically capable of accessing river viewpoints
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills
• Must provide your own camera equipment (DSLR or mirrorless required)

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

• Experience with rafting, kayaking, or outdoor recreation
• Lightroom or similar editing workflow
• Interest in marketing/content creation
