Research Assistant (Fall-26 Intern)

As a Research Intern at The Ramos Research Institute (RRI), you will have the unique opportunity to actively contribute to our research efforts, gain hands-on experience, and collaborate with our team of experienced researchers. This internship is designed to provide you with exposure to various aspects of research and policy analysis while allowing you to make meaningful contributions to our ongoing projects.

The Ramos Research Institute is a nonpartisan nonprofit think tank with a focus on Democracy, Civics (education and engagement), and Media Literacy.

We enthusiastically welcome applicants who are either passionate about research or just getting started and those who are curious about the world. This role is unpaid but RRI is willing to support a student’s petition for academic credit. Historically, most interns have earned academic credits in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

●  Assist in conducting literature reviews and background research on relevant topics.

●  Collect, organize, and analyze data using statistical software and research tools.

●  Support the design and administration of surveys and questionnaires.

●  Assist in data visualization and preparation of research reports and presentations.

●  Contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, whitepapers, and research publications.

●  Attend research team meetings, discussions, and seminars to expand your knowledge and skills.

●  Collaborate with team members on research projects related to education policy, climate change, voting behaviors, and other areas of interest.

●  Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for research initiatives.

●  Stay updated on current events and trends related to our research focus areas.

●  Perform other research-related tasks as assigned by supervisors.

 

Qualifications:

● Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in a relevant field
○ (e.g., Political Science, Public Policy, Education Policy, Sociology, Statistics, etc.).

●  Strong interest in research and policy analysis.

●  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

●  Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Stata, SPSS, R, Python) is a plus but not necessary. NOTE: If you are looking for an internship where you will mostly conduct statistical analyses then this internship is most likely not suited for you.

●  Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

●  Detail-oriented and organized with strong time-management skills.

●  Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt to new challenges.

●  Passion for addressing societal issues and contributing to positive change.
