Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2026) — AWS / TypeScript / Next.js

Location: Remote (U.S.-based preferred)

Duration: 10–12 weeks (Summer 2026)

Compensation: $20-25/hour (based on experience)

Hours: 35-40 hours/week

About the Role

We’re building a modern SaaS platform focused on workflow automation, real-time data processing, and seamless integrations across enterprise tools. This is not a toy project—you’ll be working directly on a production system with real users.

You’ll work closely with an experienced software engineer to help harden, scale, and extend an existing application. This is a hands-on role where your contributions will ship to production.

What You’ll Work On

  • Deploy and manage a production application in AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Cognito)
  • Build and refine APIs using TypeScript (Node.js)
  • Enhance a Next.js frontend with a focus on usability and performance
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines and improve deployment workflows
  • Integrate external systems (e.g., messaging platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams)
  • Improve system reliability, logging, and error handling
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design

What We’re Looking For

Strong fundamentals in software engineering (data structures, APIs, debugging)

Experience building real applications (internships, research, or personal projects)

Familiarity with:

  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • React or Next.js
  • Backend development (Node.js or similar)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred but not required)
  • Ability to work independently and deliver working features
  • High ownership mindset — you finish what you start

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience deploying apps to AWS
  • Working with REST APIs and database-backed systems (PostgreSQL a plus)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, etc.)
  • Built and shipped something people actually used

Expectations

This is a performance-driven internship. You’ll have:

  • Clear weekly deliverables
  • Daily or near-daily check-ins
  • Direct feedback and mentorship

If you’re looking for a low-effort summer internship, this isn’t it.

If you want to build real systems and level up quickly, you’ll get a ton out of this.
