Sales Development Representative

Sales Development Representative SDR - AI Startup

Company: Tenzo AI
Location: San Francisco, CA
Work style: In-person
Compensation: $80,000 OTE + equity
Experience: Entry-level to 2 years
Start date: ASAP

Build your sales career at an AI startup from the ground floor

Tenzo AI is hiring a Sales Development Representative to help build our sales engine in San Francisco.

This is a great role for someone early in their career who wants to break into startups, AI, sales, or enterprise technology. You will work directly with the CEO and founding team, learn how high-growth B2B sales works, and help introduce Tenzo to companies that hire thousands of people every year.

This is not a corporate SDR job where you spend years reading from a script.

You will research real companies, contact real executives, test messaging, book meetings, learn from founders, and help build the playbook for how Tenzo grows.

If you are competitive, coachable, persuasive, and willing to work hard, this is one of the fastest ways to start a career in sales, startups, or AI.

About Tenzo AI

Tenzo AI builds AI recruiting agents for companies that hire at high volume.

Our platform helps recruiting teams engage, screen, interview, and schedule candidates faster across phone, SMS, email, and video. We help companies move faster, reduce manual recruiting work, and create a better candidate experience.

We are focused on industries where hiring is difficult, fast-moving, and operationally critical, including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, staffing, retail, construction, field services, and other high-volume hiring markets.

Why this role is different

Most entry-level sales jobs are narrow. You get a list, send templated emails, make calls, and wait for someone to promote you.

At Tenzo, you will be much closer to the action.

You will work directly with the founding team. You will see how messaging is created, how deals are opened, how customers think, how a startup grows, and how AI is changing the recruiting market.

You will not just execute the sales playbook. You will help build it.

Strong performers can grow into roles across sales, account management, partnerships, growth, customer success, or go-to-market leadership as Tenzo scales.

What you will do

Find high-potential customers

You will research companies that hire large numbers of workers and identify the right people to contact.

This includes talent acquisition leaders, HR leaders, operations executives, staffing leaders, and business owners who care about hiring speed, quality, and efficiency.

Run outbound outreach

You will contact prospects through email, phone, LinkedIn, and creative outbound campaigns.

You will learn how to write messages that get replies, how to open conversations, how to handle objections, and how to turn cold outreach into qualified meetings.

Book qualified sales meetings

Your main goal will be to create pipeline.

You will qualify prospects, understand their hiring challenges, and schedule meetings for Tenzo's sales team and founders.

Test messaging and improve what works

You will help figure out which industries, buyer personas, pain points, and outbound messages perform best.

This role is part sales, part growth, and part market research. You will be expected to think, test, learn, and improve.

Learn enterprise sales from the inside

You will get exposure to real sales conversations, customer pain points, demos, follow-ups, CRM discipline, pipeline strategy, and founder-led selling.

This is a hands-on training ground for someone who wants to become excellent at B2B sales.

Who we are looking for

You do not need years of sales experience.

You do need drive, curiosity, resilience, and the willingness to get better every week.

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • Early in your career and hungry to learn
  • Competitive and goal-oriented
  • Comfortable talking to new people
  • Clear and persuasive in writing
  • Coachable and open to feedback
  • Interested in AI, startups, recruiting, or enterprise sales
  • Willing to make cold calls and send outbound messages
  • Organized enough to track your work and follow up consistently
  • Energized by a fast-moving, in-person startup environment
  • Excited to work directly with founders and senior leaders

Bonus points if you have competed in sports, worked in a customer-facing job, led a student organization, sold anything before, started something on your own, or shown unusual persistence in any area of your life.

What makes someone great in this role

The best SDRs are not just "good talkers."

A great SDR at Tenzo:

  • Has high energy
  • Learns quickly
  • Follows up relentlessly
  • Writes sharp, simple messages
  • Is not afraid to pick up the phone
  • Can explain a product clearly
  • Handles rejection without getting discouraged
  • Tracks activity and outcomes carefully
  • Takes feedback without ego
  • Gets better every week

You should want to win, but you should also want to improve.

Compensation and benefits

  • $80,000 OTE
  • Equity in an early-stage AI company
  • In-person mentorship from the CEO and founding team
  • Clear path into larger go-to-market roles
  • Hands-on startup experience
  • Direct exposure to customers and sales strategy
  • High learning environment with real responsibility from day one

Why join now

AI is changing how companies hire.

Recruiting teams are under pressure to move faster, engage more candidates, reduce manual work, and create a better process for both candidates and hiring teams.
