Camp Counselors are the heart of Horizon Day Camp. Counselors build meaningful relationships with campers, support their emotional and social needs, and help create unforgettable summer experiences. This role is ideal for students interested in education, psychology, nursing, child life, social work, human development, and other helping professions.

Counselors work on a team to guide a group of campers through daily activities including arts, sports, music, swimming, STEM, special events, and more. No prior camp experience required—just compassion, reliability, and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage campers in all daily activities
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with children ages 4–16
  • Collaborate with co-counselors, specialists, and leadership staff
  • Model empathy, patience, and enthusiasm at all times
  • Support campers' individual needs with guidance from trained staff
  • Ensure safety, inclusion, and fun in every activity
  • Participate in staff training prior to camp
