French Language Summer Camp Volunteer

French Language Summer Camp Volunteer (Education & Youth Program – Training Opportunity)

Location: Washington, DC (Chevy Chase area)
Our Camps take place from July 6 – August 14, 2026, Mon to Fri, 8:30am-4pm.

Internship Schedule: flexible depending on your availabilities.

About the French Academy: 

Our mission is to provide French language instruction in order to help people become better global citizens. We create a fun and friendly environment that immerses students in the language and culture, ensuring students learn French effectively and quickly.
We believe that language is more than communication — it is a gateway to cultural understanding, confidence, and connection.

Our summer camps create an immersive and joyful environment where children (ages 5–12) discover French through games, creativity, and meaningful interactions. We aim to foster curiosity, openness, and a love of learning in every child.

About the Internship/ Volunteering opportunity:

We are looking for a volunteer/intern who would help our teachers' team during the Summer camps. 

This internship is designed as a learning experience centered on observation, guided practice, and mentorship, under the supervision of experienced instructors. This internship is primarily educational in nature, It does not replace paid staff.

Learning Objectives

Through this internship, you will:

  • Gain exposure to immersion-based language teaching methods
  • Learn about CEFR-based, action-oriented pedagogy
  • Observe classroom dynamics and teaching strategies
  • Practice your French communication skills in a real-life context

Your Role

  • Observe experienced instructors leading activities and lessons
  • Participate in group activities (games, arts & crafts, interactions)
  • Engage with children in French in a supportive and guided manner

Important Information

  • This is an unpaid educational internship / training program but some compensation is possible depending on engagement.
  • The internship is structured to prioritize learning and mentorship.
  • Interns are not responsible for supervising children independently.
  • Interns do not replace or perform the duties of paid staff.
  • Participation is flexible and based on mutual availability.
  • Transportation costs will be reimbursed.
  • A reference letter may be provided upon successful completion
