JOB TITLE: Field Organizer
Location: NJ-12 (On-site)
Start Date: ASAP
Type: Part-Time, Primary Election Cycle Position, with opportunity to renegotiate in June
Pay: $16-20 dollars per hour, commensurate with experience and skills
Reports to: Field Director
Role Overview:
Jay Vaingankar for Congress (NJ-12) is seeking a highly motivated and talented Field Organizer to support grassroots organizing efforts in the 2026 primary election. The Field Organizer is a core member of the campaign’s field operation, responsible for executing day-to-day voter contact and volunteer organizing across NJ-12. This role is designed to build, mobilize, and sustain a district-wide field and GOTV program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a pipeline to source, recruit, train, and manage volunteers
- Meet weekly door knocking and phone call goals
- Remain accountable to cycle metric goals
- Plan and staff canvass launches, phone banks, and campaign events
- Oversee field interns and fellows
- Attend local events in order to build relationships and recruit volunteers
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
- At least 1 election cycle (or 1 year) of organizing or outreach experience
- Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers
- Meets deadlines and multitasks effectively
- Comfort working with diverse communities
- Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Available to work weekends and evenings
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours when necessary (hours are expected to increase closer to Election Day)
- Driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle
- Personal ties to NJ-12 or New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of VAN/Votebuilder, Mobilize, and other campaign technology platforms
- Experience building attendance for events
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
- Familiarity with NJ-12 (Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, and Union Counties)
