Garden Educator

Full-Time Garden Educator Position starting 8/26/26 

Help cultivate joyful, inclusive outdoor learning spaces where all students see themselves as scientists! 

Join our collaborative team to teach hands-on, garden-based science in Boston and Cambridge public elementary schools—centering curiosity, belonging, and equitable access to meaningful learning experiences.

Compensation 

  • 12-month option: $48,245 (school year + six weeks of summer Green Team (middle school) programming) 
  • 10-month option: $42,500 (school year only) 
  • Both options include full-time benefits

What You’ll Do 

Teaching 

  • Use our curriculum to facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based garden science lessons for students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade 
  • Create inclusive, engaging learning environments where students of all backgrounds and learning styles can participate and thrive 
  • Partner with classroom teachers and school staff to integrate garden learning into the broader school experience 
  • Serve as a site lead for tuition-free middle school summer Green Team programming (12-Month Option Only) 

Gardening 

  • Collaborate with Operations staff to steward school gardens as welcoming, accessible outdoor classrooms 
  • Plant and maintain edible crops, flowers, herbs, and perennials that reflect seasonal cycles and, when possible, the cultural connections of the school community

Qualifications 

Required Experience 

We are looking for educators who: 

  • Have experience teaching or working with elementary-aged children, especially in science or environmental education 
  • Believe all students deserve access to hands-on science learning 
  • Create spaces of belonging, respect, and joy for diverse learners 
  • Practice deep listening, clear communication, and relationship-building 
  • Bring cultural humility and an enthusiasm for learning from students, families, and colleagues 
  • Are reflective and committed to their own ongoing growth 
  • Are comfortable working outdoors in mixed conditions, including heat and cold 
  • Have 1+ years of gardening or farming experience growing a variety of vegetables and flowers; are able to complete garden tasks independently according to instructions
