Mixed Animal Associate Veterinarian
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and team-oriented mixed animal associate veterinarian to join our growing veterinary practice. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload including small animals, livestock, small ruminants, and equine, depending on interest and experience. Our clinic is a well-established mixed animal practice serving a loyal client base in a community that values veterinary care for both companion animals and livestock. We pride ourselves on practicing practical, evidence-based medicine while maintaining a positive, team-focused work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide medical, surgical, and preventive care to small and large animal patients
- Perform routine and emergency examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
- Conduct common surgical procedures (e.g., spay/neuter, laceration repair, C-sections, exploratory surgeries, etc.)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients through clear communication and education
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Participate in shared large animal on-call shifts
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care
Species Mix (Typical)
- Small Animal (Dogs & Cats): ~60–80%
- Large Animal (Cattle, Goats, Sheep, Equine, Swine, Poultry, Camelids): ~20–40%
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
- Eligible for state veterinary licensure
- Interest in mixed animal medicine
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in both clinic and field settings
- New graduates and experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply
Schedule
- Full-time preferred
- Flexible scheduling options may be available
- Shared on-call large animal shifts (details discussed during interview)
